Default WWE Trying To Save ECW's TV Deal?, Big Update

Source - PWInsider

Right now WWE’s primary goal is to get ECW’s rating up enough to they can renew their deal with the Sci-Fi Network. That is why the company decided to allow SmackDown talent to appear on the show and vice versa. If Sci-Fi would opt to not renew, ECW will be moved to WWE.com and they would keep their international television clearances for the series.

At this point the future of the entire ECW brand is highly uncertain. It is possible that a year from now ECW could mean as much as Heat or Velocity. There has been some talk in WWE about making Michael Hayes the head creative writer for ECW which would leave one to believe that they are slowly merging back to two brands, RAW and SmackDown.
