Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony was arrested this morning on suspicion of drunken driving.

Anthony was pulled over at about 4 a.m. on southbound Interstate 25 at 20th Street, said Sharon Hahn, a Denver police spokeswoman.

An officer pulled Anthony over after he "failed to drive in a single lane" and for "failure to dim his headlights," Hahn said.

Anthony, 23, was given a series of tests and arrested for investigation of DUI, Hahn said.

Police said Anthony was alone in the car.

He was processed at police headquarters and released to "a sober responsible party" polic said.

"Carmelo was pulled over on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol," said Dan Recht, Anthony's attorney. "He cooperated by consenting to a blood test, the results of which will not be available for approximately two weeks."

In February, Anthony was ticketed in Arapahoe County for driving 25 mph above the posted speed limit. He has a hearing set for next month in that case.

Denver Nuggets vice president of basketball operations, Mark Warkentien, issued the following statement: "We are aware of the situation involving Carmelo Anthony. We are currently gathering information, and we will have no further comment at this time."

Anthony apologized to Nuggets fans and his teammates in his statement.

Recht said: "Like anyone in a similar situation, Carmelo has to wait for the results of the blood test. He regrets putting himself in this situation."
