![]() England captain John Terry has emerged as a doubt for the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Estonia and Russia after picking up a knee problem in training. The Football Association has confirmed Terry will have a precautionary scan on his knee on Thursday. Striker Michael Owen will be fit for the double-header despite undergoing stomach surgery in Germany 13 days ago. Wes Brown has pulled out with injury and Gareth Barry is likely to keep his place despite Frank Lampard's return. Brown withdrew from the squad on Tuesday with a knee problem and returned to Manchester United for treatment. Sol Campbell sat out England's training session on Tuesday with an Achilles' problem but returned on Wednesday and Alan Smith (knee) was rested from both days as a precaution. Strikers Dean Ashton and Andrew Johnson have already been withdrawn from Steve McClaren's squad due to injury. But Terry will be the major concern for the England coach, after he pulled out of Wednesday's second training session after feeling a twinge in his knee. McClaren was already considering not playing Terry against Estonia at Wembley because he would be suspended for the Russia game if he got booked. "Leaving Terry out would be a massive call," conceded McClaren. "We must look at the bigger picture. We have a few players on bookings and we have to take that into account." Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole are also one caution away from a suspension. Owen was thought to be a major doubt after surgery in Germany, but he was deemed fit enough to be named as a substitute for Newcastle's Premier League game against Everton on Sunday. He came off the bench with 16 minutes left and scored and he is confident of being able to play two games in four days.
