ok so i have a baby sav and all he does is hide under the drift wood... first ill tell u about the enclosure... hes in a 55 long tank, Soil substrate, drift wood water bowl big enough for him to fit in, rocks a hide log and some fake plants, i am currently using a screen top because i believe in providing fresh air, i have 3 lights, 1 90 watt heat lamp for the basking area... a uva/uvb bulb in the middle... and a 75 watt infared heat lamp that u use mainly at night for a lil extra heat... the temps in the tank are around 110 in the basking area and 80 on the cool end plenty of shade is provided on that side...humidity is around 65-70... i mist twice a day... im at work now but i will take some pictures later this evening... now my sav is about 5 inches i place about 3 crickets in the tank at a time... if he dosent eat them i remove them... ive had him for about weeks but have adjusted the cage about 3 times for temp reasons... my main reason for concern is that im not sure if hes eaqting enough.

You need to cover the screen top, then reassess the temperatures (may get very hot). There are plenty of posts on this forum about setting up baby monitors, do a quick search and read through them. You should find a lot of posts on the issues with having a screen top

whats the best way to cover the screen will this affect the amount of fresh air he receives... since hes a baby im not going to take him out of the cage too much since i don't want to stress him out any more than he is now... and i have one correction on my previous post the heat lamp is 175 watts should i get a smaller wattage

just got a 75 watt heat bulb ill try it for a week and see how that works...

get a non-contact temperature gun to measure the surface temperature of the basking spot and to measure the cooler end of the enclosure. They're invaluable when keeping monitors as it takes all of the guesswork out
