![]() Saw it last night. Man this movie is EPIC! I don't even know where to start. Everything about this film is fantastic. There might be some moderate spoilers in here guys. I'm not really sure what to say that every one else isn't already talking about. Yes, Heath Ledger is amazing as the joker. He makes you laugh when you know you shouldn't be laughing. That's why I liked his performance so much. He would do horrible things, but at the same time he was very enjoyable and twistedly funny. There were some great twists and Two-face is in the film longer than I expected him to be. He actually has about 20-30 minutes of screen time and man, he is intense. How him and the joker connect throughout the film was great. It's strange because for a Batman movie, it definitely felt like the main story was about the joker and Harvey Dent's transformation. Bruce Wayne was mainly there to try and stop both of them. Sorry, I know I'm all over the place, but the movie just had so much going on. It has a huge scope. Many, many characters, sets, conflicts, major scenes. It was just one big joy. Every time the joker staged something it was bigger and more complex than the last one. I agree with some of the reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes that this is a great crime drama. It's so realistic that you forget you're watching a movie about a guy who dresses up in a costume and a villain who wears makeup and a purple suit. I've never been more sold on a super-hero film than this one. It was almost too good to be true. There were many moments in my theater that everyone clapped (one great bat-pod move got the crowd cheering). It isn't cheesy. It isn't melodramatic. It's real, it's gritty, and god damn it is dark. It's a good thing though. It's not necessarily "depressing" dark. It is just very visceral and the joker does not mess around. Some parts are very brutal, and I think that's why some critics are saying it's too dark. It could have been darker for sure. It's not as bad as they say. It's just that there are hard times, and probably even more to come after this film, but it makes for damn good cinema. Many "holy shit" moments were witnessed. Maybe more than I can count. Overall- 9.5/10

Theres some light banter between Bats and Alfred and Luscius, and in one scene Bruce Waynes does the "Im walking in with a bunch of hot chicks" thing again. That plus Jokers distinctive style of comedy, which was hilarious, I was laughing all through out, but Joker isnt really as funny as he was in Burtons Batman. He isnt silly funny, he is psychotic, funny. Im almost tempted to tell you guys a scene, but Im not gonna.
I will say this, I think this movie might be considered a little too scary for kids. Joker looks freaky enough, theres some scenes in which Joker is hiding in shadows...looks like something out of a horror movie. not to mention Harvey Dents zombie like face, which was awesome by the way.

Count another 10/10 from me. For a two-and-a-half hour movie, the time flew really fast.
And like everyone else, I have to make special mention to Ledger. He did an astounding job, and with the exception of one scene - if you've already seen the movie, you probably know what scene I'm talking about - I never thought about it being Heath under that makeup.

I just finished watching the movie and it was sensational. A 10/10 for sure and the best movie I've seen in a long time. The Joker character was outstanding and the rest of the cast did a fantastic job. The only problem I had was that the lights turned on and the movie stopped halfway through the movie! People were so pissed. There was a lot of swearing from the crowd and I was also upset. However, I don't think I will complain to the theatre because overall the movie was a great experience.

Phenominal movie, absolutely runs rings around Batman Begins.
I really liked the BB story, cast, and tone, but I found it lacking in excitement; this movie delivers more adrenaline, more human drama, dives much deeper into the morality aspect...as someone that always found BB good but overrated, I was completely blown away by this movie. The highway sequence alone is far more exciting than the entire Batman Begins movie, I absolutely loved the message of the chaotic nature of mankind surrounding the Joker character and watching how it plays out in every other character in the film. Ledger is worth every ounce of hype he got, every moment he was onscreen I couldn't help but think "I can't believe I'm never going to get to see this in a movie again." What easily could've been just a generic, run of the mill psycho added so much substance to this film. He's up there with Hopkins and Bell as Lecter and Jigsaw as one of the greatest villains to ever grace the screen. I'm not sure if any other villain has ever had me going back and forth from being amused to thinking "somebody stomp a mudhole in this prick!*_*" as much as he did. He was scary, funny, and even thought provoking. Eckhart, Oldman, and of course Bale are all fantastic, but their characters wouldn't have been so compelling if it weren't for what Ledger's Joker contributed to this story. Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Hellboy II, and now this...this is easily the greatest year for comic book movies in cinematic history. R.I.P. Heath Ledger.

I will preface this by saying...I adore the film Heat, it is one of my favorite films of all time. Two iconic figures engaging in a back-and-forth for the ages. What was done in Heat is rivaled in a few movies, in my eyes. So, when I read a review by some critic stating this movie was on par with a film like Heat as a crime drama, I was a bit taken by it and thought it was a bit of a hyperbole by the critic.
With that said...while, The Dark Knight is not the GOAT film of All-Time, it is a transcending film of its genre. There hasn't been a "Comic Book" film that took its subject and made it into something that brings it down to Earth...but Christopher Nolan did it here. This movie isn't a Superhero film or Comic Book film, its a crime drama. One, that I think rivals a film like Heat. It lived up to the billing and hit a home run. The money shot was well worth the dedication to following the virals and making of this film, no doubt about it. That isn't to say this movie is perfect, I felt there were a few issues with the film. The most interesting part of the film was the second half with the Harvey Dent character arc. Dent was the "emotional" attachment of the film. Seeing his transformation was that connection you were supposed to get. And 99 out of 100 times, I'd like that roller coaster to end in one film...but this film, with a character like Harvey Two Face, that is so iconic in the source material, I wish it would have left the ending a bit more wide open in his future...that isn't to say it isn't possible...but they left the ending looking very closed on this character, to which, I felt they closed the book very quickly. The death of Rachel Dawes was done rather brilliantly and would have been an overly killer way to begin to wrap up the film, but they took, what I think would have been just a ridiculously terrific third film and condensed it into 45 minutes. Dent, the vigilante, looking to get his revenge or dish out his form of justice to the police force and members of the mob would have been a great plot line for a third film. Instead of the FOIL between Batman and Joker, you'd get two characters looking for the same thing...just taking two different paths to get there. The combustible parts in a scenario like that, while throwing in a third party to create calamity would have been another splooge worthy film. To be to the point...Harvey Two Face should not rise and fall from power in the matter of two days in movie time. The Harvey storyline should have been a slow burn that finished in the third Bat film...maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. But taking this movie as a stand alone, I think the very short climax to the Dent character arc was a bit disappointing. Not a movie killer...but I would have liked to see this done better. The beginning, after the prologue was also a bit muddled. You didn't get that few minutes to work your way into the film, it just threw itself at you. It was good, great even, but myself, maybe I just needed a minute to get the ball rolling as I watched the film. With that said, the good was GREAT...epic even. I don't even have to say anything to explain how fantastic the performance was by Heath Ledger. It brings out emotions to know that we'll never see that in another incarnation ever again. It is a timeless character. He lapped Jack's memorable Clown Prince of Crime and left Ceasar Romero about 10 miles behind him in an 11 mile race. Ledger's Joker and Bale's Batman are Neil McCauley and Vincent Hanna to the next level. The film had a brilliant landscape. The visuals will be stunning in HD on the TV, bank on that. Overall, this film is to its genre as any of the greats are to theirs. Oscar-nomination worthy performance in a supporting role, cinematography, writing, and directing. I thought the performances by Bale, Eckhart, and Oldham were fantastic as well. Maggie G outshines Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes by the power of a thousand suns. 9.5 out of 10.

Ive been wanting to talk about the political issues addresed in this movie. I loved how the Joker represents every mad man leader that has ever been in power. Did anybody feel as if The Joker represented Bush and his political agenda of setting the world ablaze? You know, war war war, getting people to want to kill each other, then stepping back and watching the show? Defenetly an "agent of chaos" as the joker so eloquently puts it in one scene.
Thats what I grasped from that character. Specially with his fixation on money and gasoline. I loved that scene where The Joker burns the money and the gasoline. They way he says, look at all that Ive achieved with a couple of barrels of oil and a few bullets. I love it when he said "money and oil, they are so cheap!" and then burns them. Awesome, awesome dialog, obviously making a reference to the way things our today in the world with escalating gas prices and the overall inflation. At the sametime Joker makes a great comment about not giving a shit about money. And burning it the way he did, that scene was really special, and meaningful for me. I mean, money and the importance society gives to it in our day and time is defenetly is partly why the world is as messed up as it is today. Also, the scene with the two boats. Two groups of people with detonators to blow each other up. Who will do it first? Joker wants to prove just how fucked up society is. His argument is that everyone will do anything to survive, that everyone puts themselves first then anybody else, and that a person would kill another in a heart beat if it ever came down to it. That everyone can and will turn into a selfish bastard if it ever came down to choosing between you or them. I love the way humanity shines through in that scene. One doesnt blow up the other, humanity demonstrates that they do care one for another. I couldn't help thinking about world powers and their nuclear weapons, and their weapons of mass destruction. We both got the capabilities to blow each other out of the water....but do we? Interesting situation, and a direct reflection on a lot of societies concerns in that matter. Kind of reminded me of that Sting song "Russians". "I hope the Russians love their children too..." So all in all, this was a very deep Batman movie, speaking about many things at once. About society, about how society reacts to situations, to the media, and about how misinformed the masses really are about whats really going on in the world. Awesome movie!
