Default My school is refusing my student loan certification

Is anyone having problems with their school refusing to certify their loan? As a student borrower, it is illegal for a school to refuse to certify or make more difficult the process for certifying, a student loan. Student can choose any lender they prefer. Are student having problems getting their loans certified?

You have to watch out and check up on with the colleges on loans. My college messed up my account two years in a row. I also know that most likley you have to get a cosigner to get your loan approved.

I am currently at a new school which is based up north, but the campus that I am at is new...and yes...I believe schools do have the option to choose what grants/scholarships are available for the students. I know this because I wasn't able to receive as much money from the previous school that I attended, and this is what financial aid told me as well. Hope this helps!

At the college I attend, the financial aid does not do a good job with telling students that they owe money or need to take out loans. I am currently trying to take out a student loan, but I have to sign a promisary note in order for my loan to be approved. I have to keep calling my financial aid counselor to see how things are going with getting my loan approved. It's a lot of responsibility on my back and I just do not want to let my parents down. I basically am just attempting to find other resources that can help me get the money I need for school.

If for some reason you are having a really tough time getting your Stafford Loan certified by your schools financial aid office call the Department of Educations Ombudsmans office for help on resolving the issue.
