Secrets Even Your Own Doctor May Not Know
Until the mid 20th century our food supply was rich in vital nutrients but today bigger, faster, “better” has lead to a food crisis in the U.S. The fresh fruits and vegetables that we buy today have little nutritional value because they are grown in nutrient depleted soil, plucked from the vine before ripening naturally, irradiated, gassed, and artificially ripened. Why do you think a tomato tastes so good from your own garden but so bland we bought from the grocery store? Our diets are lacking the essentials nutrients needed for vibrant health if we are counting on just getting our nutrition from the grocery or the millions of fast food restaurants that we drive by everyday.
Chronic disease is on the rise especially in the U.S. The advent of fast food and a fast life style has helped lead to this. I’ve heard many people say that they think they can get what they need by diet alone. Well, think about this for a minute… obesity is increasing in our country at an alarming rate as well as other diseases such as Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease, ADHD, Autism, Cancers. So, is more food better? Absolutely not! Even obese people can be undernourished. More is not necessarily better! If that were the case we would all be fat and healthy. Our fast paced lifestyle doesn’t help either. Stress leads to oxidative stress and can increase free radical damage. Another fact you may not know- your body doesn’t know the difference between good stress and bad stress so for those of you thinking that you ENJOY working 12 hour days, drinking 4 cups of coffee and 3 cocktails a day you need extra nutritional support just like the health conscious marathon runner. Free radical damage is counteracted by antioxidants. If you can find the right balance of antioxidants you can potentially decrease your risk for diseases that are caused at least in part by free radical damage. So, proper nutrition in the right amounts is vitally important to your health.
