I am writing because I'm looking for a program Windows (if possible freeware) to convert a lot of .flv file to .avi or .mpg, maybe that automatically choose the best setting.

I've already tried but:

Can I ask why you want to convert? There are several players out there that can play FLV files well. I recommend GOM player. Heck, even Windows Media Player can play them.
