Buying a used car can be a rather affordable solution to buying a brand new car. Used cars, even at only one model year old, can be 20-30% cheaper than buying the same car brand new. Used car shoppers can find easy deals with the high number of cars being leased. These cars are usually in very good condition and have a low number of miles on them. Used cars also have lower insurance rates and buying a used car means you can afford a car that has more luxury/performance than you might usually be able to afford.
The reasons that many people think they should avoid used cars have actually changed. Used cars are generally move reliable these days than they have been in the past and the history of accidents cars have been involved in can easily be traced by the VIN number. Most car makers are now selling cars that include factory warranties. One of the best things you can do on any used car is to get a history of the accidents a car has been involved in by using the VIN number to run a Carfax report that will tell you the history of the car. Also, if you are dealing with a third party it might be a wise idea to take the vehicle to an independent mechanic for an inspection. That way you can know what is truly the condition on the car. Dealerships will not let you do this, for the reason that they have checked the car themselves. When buying a car via classified ads or eBay call the phone number and say you are interested in the car. You will know instantly whether you are dealing with a private seller or a trader pretending to be a private seller. Always examine the speedometer and odometer area. Look for scratches, chips or other damage that would indicate that the odometer has been tampered with. It is getting harder to do these days, but it is still possible to turn back the car's odometer. If you see the price on a car is $5,999, try showing up to the dealer's lot with $500-$1000 less and see if they take it. If the dealer really wants to push this car off the lot, which most do, they will accept your offer and you will walk away with a great price on your new car. You should also run a report on your car with Experian, yes, and the credit report people. They also keep detailed records of cars and also get a copy of your title. It will show you the mileage, if the odometer says otherwise, then someone possibly tampered with it. Always use due diligence when buying a used car, no matter if from private citizen or a car dealership, always suspect something is suspicious. That way, you can keep yourself safe when buying a used car and have a good car to drive for many years to come.

The absolutely more needed thing that you need to do when thinking about getting yourself a car is to spend all of the time needed researching for one that does exactly what you need and is perfect for you before you go about spending a small fortune on something that you may not want or need later down the line. Buying a car is a really big thing that no one can afford to make a rash choice on. There are a lot of different things to consider about buying a car before you actually go about getting it. These things go beyond the style of the car itself and how quickly it can get you from point A to point B.
The first thing that you should be thinking about is what exactly will you be using the car for that you are buying. You should write down all of the reasons why you need it and want it and what exactly you would use it for in the future whether it is for family gatherings or for getting to work or vacations or any other things that you could think of. The next thing you should do is consider exactly what make and model of the car that you want to buy. You should consider all things at this point like the style of the car itself as well as how reliable it is and the resale cost of the make and model of the car. This should also allow you to first get an idea on the cost of the car itself so that you can figure out exactly whether or not you have the budget for such a car. After this you are going to want to consider the extras on the model of the car such as the interior and the color of the car and the size of it and such. At this step you should also test drive the car and do not over look doing that because this is an investment that you will be making and you should be very comfortable within it. After have chosen all of the above you are going to want to start thinking about the different financial factors of buying a car and figure out exactly what will be affordable for you. You should figure out all of the financial costs such as the car loan and the rate of interest that is associated with the car loan as well as the deposit on the car itself and the expenses that come with maintaining a car such as the gas costs and tune ups. It is important to remember any other large monthly payments that you are already like a mortgage or insurance or rent even. A car payment is a fairly large sized payment and you are going to want to make sure that you have the money to make all of the payments that you have and will have on time each and every month. This will bring upon the choice of whether or not you should get the car loan for used or brand new car as well. Buying a car without the budget for it can be a very annoying process because there are a lot of other factors that go into buying a new or used car. It could take you a very long time finding the right car that meets all of your needs including the budget that you have wrote down for yourself. This research though will save you a lot of trouble in the future because you will know exactly what to expect. Finding a car you want for sale could be a tough thing to go about doing especially since there are many different things involved that need to be considered when making such a large purchase. There are different car loans for different people and car finance options for the car that you want and things of that nature. The internet is the best place to research your car loan options with the click of a mouse. You can get a comparison on all of the car loan products out there and find the right match for your exactly financial situation that you need in order to buy a car that is the perfect fit for you and is the car of your dreams even. Once you have that all figured out it is time to figure out exactly where to find this dream car of yours and this process can seem a bit overwhelming. You have many options that include of course the internet as well as newspapers and local advertisements at your disposal in order to find exactly what you need. The internet first and foremost is the best possible resource to research new and used cars because there are thousands of websites out there dedicated to selling new and used cars online. These websites have virtually every make and model at their disposal and you can even get the luxury of researching the exact specifics such as the mileage they have and other details pertaining to the car if it is used. A newspaper can also provide you with a great option for finding a great car buying deal from either car dealerships or private sellers that are looking to sell their used car for a great price. Local ads that you may see in stores can also be very helpful because a lot of the time local dealerships will put up these ads with special car buying deals for local buyers. This is especially important when you go about getting yourself a used car. The first thing you are going to want to look at when you are looking at a specific used car is the vehicle identification number that is unique to each car. There are a lot of websites out there that will allow you to enter this vehicle identification number and find out all sorts of information regarding the history of that specific vehicle. In addition to this you are going to want to test drive the car to make sure that it feels right for you. You should also physically inspect the fluids, the engine, the brakes, the suspension, lights, tires, everything in order to make sure that the case is in working order. If you do not have the know how on how to properly inspect a car you can hire a mechanic or bring a friend along to inspect it for you.

It really depends on your budget and how long you plan on keeping the car.
I have a Toyota Solara, but have had a Chevrolet Blazer, A Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and a Dodge Avenger. So far i was most please with the blazer and solara. I would say stick to a small to mid-size car because of course gas prices will continue to rise. A four cylinder being the best option but as you'll tell from my list I've always had a V-6. Things to look for are obviously any noticeable body damage like difference in paint shades meaning the car had been wrecked. If it appears the dash is cracked or damaged from air bags deploying. You want to test drive the car and listen for any strange sounds you're not used to hearing in a car you normally ride in..like popping, clicking, etc. If it's a dealership ask for a free Carfax report. If they won't provide one (some smaller dealers don't) then find out if it was a local trade-in or bought at an auction, etc. I always go through the glovebox to see if there is a history on vehicle maintenence...it makes me feel better if there is. Try checking the oil dip stick to make sure it's the correct consistency..if it's gummy it means its been in there for a long time. Also look at the transmission fluid, it should be more redish and not brown. If it looks like it's been neglected inside, then it's probably been neglected under the hood too. Check the trunk for leakage..see if the carpet in the trunk is wet, i got stuck this way once... it leaked bad! Make sure it shifts smooth..the transmission..if it jerks a lot when shifting then it's a no. E-mail me if you have other q's. It's good to take a guy (dad) with you because a lot of dealers think us girls are just stupid about cars. Also, don't dismiss the car just because a light is on like check engine..sometimes the sensors are bad and it can be a quick cheap fix. Take it to Auto Zone or Advance Auto or a place like that..they run a FREE diagnostic test on it and then you know whether to buy the car or not. I personally would not get a car over 80K miles because that's when a lot of things need to be replaced due to wear..a lot of tedious petty preventative things that add up to a lot of money..
